Department of Physics
Established in the year 2007, the department of physics has qualified faculty members, pursuing their research in different specialized areas in physics. By choosing an area of interest, any student is made to apply his knowledge in physics, to search a suitable solution for any problem in Engineering. It imparts the required knowledge in physics, through practical sessions in the well equipped physics laboratory with all facilities. The Department library has number of books in Engineering Physics which enriches the knowledge of student in basic ideas of physics in general and Engineering physics in particular. Seminars and symposiums are periodically conducted to match the knowledge of the students to be in resonance with the expectations of the industry.
Course Break down:
The undergraduate engineering physics curriculum is designed for students who want to pursue careers of research or development in applied science or advanced technology or engineering. Its distinguishing feature is a focus on the fundamentals of physics and mathematics, both experimental and theoretical; those are at the heart of modern engineering and research and have broad applicability. By choosing areas of concentration, students combine this physics base with a firm background in a conventional area of engineering or applied science. The Engineering Physics subject allows students with strong interests in both physics and engineering to concentrate their studies in the common areas of these disciplines.
Physics is associated with the future development of humanity and our future engineers are prepared to be a part of it. Our students are skilled in a modern, active and demanding environment through a combination of research based teaching, project work and a high degree of interaction with industry. The incorporated curriculum version of engineering physics is the broad foundation of the first two semesters to introduce the basic principles of physics and paves way for understanding the problems, together with an appreciation of the external pressures under which these ideas are likely to be applied.
Semester I
Several coursework activities, on topics including structural design, optical and acoustical product designs and applications, presentation skills, drawing and laboratory experiments are offered in the first semester. The outcomes from the students are will knowledge on the basics of physics related to properties of matter; Optics, acoustics etc., and they will apply these fundamental principles to solve practical problems related to materials used for engineering applications.
Semester II
In the second semester coursework offers activities on the topics including modern material science and NLO materials, Nano technological designs and devices with various applications in modern humanity, drawing, laboratory experiments. The students will have the knowledge about materials and that skill will be used by them in different engineering and technological applications.
