Overview

The Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) Department is dedicated to providing comprehensive education and training in the fields of Electrical, Electronics, EV Technology and Embedded System. It aims to develop skilled engineers capable of designing, analysing and innovating in various sectors such as EV Vehicles, Power generation; Transmission & Distribution, Renewable energy and AI based embedded automation & IoT.

The EEE Department offers a curriculum that balances theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience, enabling students to gain practical exposure to modern technologies and engineering tools. Through a combination of coursework, laboratory work and industry collaboration students are prepared to address real-world engineering challenges. In addition to technical expertise, the EEE department emphasizes the development of problem-solving, leadership, and ethical decision-making skills, fostering a holistic approach to engineering education. By equipping with RVS College of Engineering and Technology Students to enhance the knowledge and tools to thrive in the evolving technological landscape, the department plays a vital role in shaping the future of Electrical Power systems, AI based embedded automation, and EV Technology, contributing to the nation’s progress and industrial.

 Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems

Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.

Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations

Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

Professor and Head, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering

He is a distinguished academician and researcher in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, with over 25 years of teaching experience and 6 years of core industrial experience. He has made significant contributions to the areas of Electrical Machine Design, Electric Vehicle, Power Electronics, Renewable Energy Systems, Control Systems and Special Electrical Machines.

His research expertise spans electrical drives, machine design, and renewable energy technologies, contributing extensively to both academic and industrial advancements. He has secured AICTE funding of ₹90 lakhs for establishing an IDEA Lab and ATAL offline FDP funding ₹3.5 lakhs reflecting his commitment to innovation and practical learning.

He has an impressive publication record, with over 74 research papers in reputed international journals indexed in SCIE, Web of Science and Scopus, along with 28 international conference publications. He is also a prolific author of several technical books and has delivered 11 keynote addresses at international conferences in India and abroad.

A Senior Member of IEEE, he is also a Life Member of ISTE (India), SSI and IAENG. He actively contributes to the academic community as a reviewer for prestigious journals, including:

Additionally, he serves as an Associate Editor of the Nigerian Journal of Technology and is an Editorial Board Member for several international journals.

Recognized as a Ph.D. Supervisor by Anna University, He is currently guides 8 research scholars and serves on doctoral committees for multiple Ph.D. candidates and acted as a Ph.D. thesis evaluator for numerous national and international universities. His excellence in academics and administration has been acknowledged through several international awards, including the Excellent Academic Professor and Administrator Award.

He is actively involved in rural development and outreach activities, particularly tribal community development in Coimbatore under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan scheme of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, where he serves as the Participating Institute (PI) Coordinator.

He has also served as Chairman of the Central Valuation Board (EEE) Anna University, demonstrating his leadership in academic evaluation and governance.

His innovation contributions include 29 patents filed/published in India and Australia. He has established international collaborations through MoUs with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, and Taylor’s University, Malaysia, promoting academic exchange and joint research initiatives. He has also organized several international conferences in collaboration with IEEE, Springer, and Elsevier.

With visionary leadership, a strong research orientation, and active global academic engagement, he continues to make significant contributions to engineering education, research excellence, and institutional development.

Laboratories

Power Electronics and Drives Laboratory

This lab provides hands‑on exposure to power electronic converters, semiconductor devices (SCR, MOSFET, IGBT), and DC/AC motor drives. Students study rectifiers, inverters, choppers, and speed‑control techniques used in industrial and renewable‑energy applications.

Control Systems and Instrumentation Laboratory

Students experiment with open‑loop and closed‑loop control systems, PID controllers, and various sensors (LVDT, strain gauge, thermocouple, etc.). The lab helps them understand modeling, stability analysis, and real‑time control of electrical and mechanical systems.

Electric Circuits Laboratory

This lab introduces basic circuit laws, network theorems, and AC/DC circuit behavior through practical experiments. Students build and test resistive, inductive, and capacitive networks, verifying theoretical concepts using meters, oscilloscopes, and signal generators.

Electrical Machines Laboratory

Students study the construction, characteristics, and performance of DC and AC machines such as motors, generators, and transformers. Experiments include load tests, speed control, efficiency calculation, and open‑circuit/short‑circuit tests on various rotating machines.

Power System Simulation Laboratory

Equipped with simulation software (MATLAB/Simulink, ETAP, or similar), this lab enables modeling and analysis of power systems, load flow, fault studies, and protection schemes. It helps students visualize grid behavior and design stable, efficient power networks.

Engineering Practices Laboratory

This foundational lab exposes students to basic electrical and electronic practices such as domestic wiring, transformer connections, simple machine tests, and basic electronic circuits. It builds essential workshop skills and safety awareness for first‑year engineering students.

Renewable Energy Laboratory

Students explore solar PV, wind, and solar‑thermal systems through training kits and small‑scale setups. The lab focuses on energy conversion, performance evaluation, and integration of renewable sources into electrical systems, supporting sustainable‑energy education.
