Overview

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering is offering a full-time four-year B.E. degree course since the inception of the institution in the year 2007. This branch of engineering imparts technical knowledge in the field of Electronics, Communication, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, VLSI, Embedded System, Image processing, Signal processing and Networking.
The Department of ECE is offering a full-time two-year M.E- Communication Systems from 2011 which imparts knowledge in communication systems in latest technologies and also offering a full-time two-year M.E- Applied Electronics from 2024 which imparts knowledge in recent technologies in Electronics.
The Department has a team of committed faculty members with sound knowledge in the areas of Communication Systems, VLSI, Embedded Systems, Signal Processing and Wireless Technologies. The Laboratories are equipped with latest technology on a wide range of hardware and advanced software packages.
The Department is equipped with a Smart class room that use Information and Communication Technology to improve students learning and optimize the delivery of information.
The Department encompasses professional associations such as IETE, IEEE, ISTE chapters which provide students the platform to learn professional and soft skills. The curriculum provides a strong foundation in both the analytic and technological aspects of Electronics and Communication Engineering and explores internship/Inplant training opportunities in industry.
The Department motivates the students to participate in various events conducted by reputed institutes and industries. The department also enriches their knowledge by attending various online courses offered by SWAYAM / NPTEL and MOOCs.
The Department caters to Outcome Based Education which helps our students to learn, develop, and lead lives of impact in society. Students are provided with ample opportunities to work on projects, skill development apart from regular curriculum, encourage taking part in extra-curricular and co-curricular in order to make them competitive and industry ready. The major goal of the Department is to cater t0 the holistic development of a student with a supportive Learning Environment.

The Program Educational Objectives of the Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) program describe major accomplishments as follows

PEO1:Become good professional in Electronics and Communication Engineering associated industries, higher education and research.

PEO2: Develop attitude in lifelong learning, applying and adapting new ideas and technologies as their field evolves.

PEO3: Solve the problems to address the industry and society needs

PO1 ENGINEERING KNOWLEDGE: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

PO2PROBLEM ANALYSIS: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering sciences.

PO3 DESIGN/DEVELOPMENT OF SOLUTIONS: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

PO4CONDUCT INVESTIGATIONS OF COMPLEX PROBLEMS: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

Dr.B.Suganthi is presently working as an Associate professor and Head in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at RVS College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore, India. She is having 28 years of teaching experience in various reputed institutes. She received BE degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Madras University, Tamilnadu in 1995. And received ME degree in Applied Electronics from Anna University ,Chennai, Tamilnadu in 2005.She has Completed her Ph.D from Anna University, Chennai in 2021. She has completed multiple numbers of MOOCs in latest technologies. She has published around 15 papers in international journals and conferences. She has attended various FDPs in cutting edge technologies. Her area of research include Ad hoc Network, Wireless sensor networks, IOT and Embedded Systems.

Laboratories

Circuits and Devices Laboratory

This lab provides hands‑on experience with basic electronic components, passive networks, and semiconductor devices such as diodes, BJTs, and FETs. Students verify circuit laws, analyze biasing, and study device characteristics through practical experiments.

Digital Signal Processing Laboratory

Students implement and analyze discrete‑time signals and systems using software tools such as MATLAB and DSP processors. The lab covers filtering, transforms (FFT), sampling, and real‑time signal processing for audio, image, and communication applications.

Communication Systems Laboratory

This lab enables students to study analog and digital communication techniques including AM, FM, ASK, FSK, PSK, and PCM. Experiments focus on modulation, demodulation, noise analysis, and performance evaluation of communication links.

Microprocessor and Microcontroller Laboratory

Students learn programming and interfacing of microprocessors (8086/8085) and microcontrollers (8051, ARM‑based) with peripherals such as LCDs, keyboards, ADCs, and sensors. The lab emphasizes embedded control, timing, and system‑level design.

Digital Electronics and IC Laboratory

This lab covers combinational and sequential logic design using TTL/CMOS ICs and FPGA platforms. Students implement gates, counters, registers, and small digital systems, gaining familiarity with IC data sheets and standard digital building blocks.

VLSI and Networks Laboratory

Students explore VLSI design flow, HDL coding (VHDL/Verilog), and simulation of digital circuits and simple processors. The lab also introduces computer and communication networks, covering protocols, routing, and network performance analysis.

Optical and Microwave Laboratory

This lab focuses on optical fiber communication and microwave components such as waveguides, antennas, and directional couplers. Students study transmission characteristics, losses, and basic RF/microwave measurements used in modern wireless systems.

Embedded Systems & IoT Laboratory

Students design and prototype embedded systems using microcontrollers, sensors, and wireless modules (Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, LoRa, etc.). The lab emphasizes real‑time firmware development, interfacing, and IoT‑based applications such as smart sensing and remote monitoring.
