The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is an initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, introduced in 2015 to rank higher educational institutions across the country. The framework aims to promote excellence, transparency, and accountability in the Indian higher education system by providing a comprehensive methodology for evaluating institutional performance.
NIRF ranks institutions based on a set of well-defined parameters, including Teaching, Learning and Resources (TLR), Research and Professional Practice (RP), Graduation Outcomes (GO), Outreach and Inclusivity (OI), and Perception (PR). These parameters assess various aspects such as academic quality, research output, infrastructure, inclusiveness, student success, and public reputation.
